Dengue Fever: The Agony and Struggle of Fighting the Sting
In the wake of COVID, dengue made its claim,
My city under siege, a nightmare proclaim.
Children swept away, in its ruthless grasp,
My younger son too, in its clutches did clasp.

For a week, I fought his soaring heat,
His fever's blaze, a relentless beat.
But as he gasped for each fragile breath,
To the hospital, I led his path.

Within those walls, a painful sight,
So many children, their dreams took flight.
Beds were scarce, a struggle for a place,
In this cruel dengue's relentless chase.

Some in the ICU, their fate unsure,
Their tiny hearts, so pure and pure.
Five days and nights, by my son's side,
I prayed for all, no matter how wide.

I roamed the halls, with a heavy heart,
Saw children's struggles, their strength a part.
Prayed for their health, for their futures bright,
In this battle with darkness, we'd find our light.
