Two Caterpillars
You and I, we were best of friends,
Two caterpillars,
Who made promises of staying together forever.

Years passed, memories faded,
You turned into a beautiful butterfly,
And I into an ugly moth.

We were so similar yet now, we are so far apart,
You are everyone's favourite,
And I'm disgusted by all.

Maybe that's why you spread your wings,
In the daylight;
When the sun shines bright,
And the flowers bloom all yellow and white.

And I love the warmth of the flame,
In the night-time;
When the moon lights up the world,
And the stars twinkle all shiny and pearled.

So tell me, oh beautiful one!
Does the sunlight warm you soul,
Like the flame warms mine?
