the notebook (resurrection)
sometime in 2016, i owned a notebook
whose leaves are of faded sage green.
inside were glass windows, grand overlooks,
lush of tales and wonders for one to see.

it was a matchless gem i got to keep;
it converses like no other soul can.
was a great companion when i couldn't sleep,
kept my secrets though it isn't human.

and i was foolish to have misplaced such thing.
all the poetry i crafted from those years...
it took away a portion of my being;
until today, i'm still hoping it would appear.

since then, i have tried to recollect
the words, the rhymes, the instilled soul
on those tattooed pages with intellect,
but it's hopeless to resurrect it whole.

// in honor of world poetry day, i remember that lost notebook which was so important to me. it had my first, several poems when i was still learning and growing, when i started to dream to be a well-known poet. and it was a genuine heartbreak when i couldn't find it at all.
