The wound
The courage to face tomorrow
And pretend we licked our wounds dry,
How now that I seem to stare in the face of change alone?
I drop my words with a nervous chuckle
Trying to resolve the denial.
You spewed the promises of a better us
And I was too busy being calm
I should have disappeared.
The long walks, the lonely nights
The unplanned conversations
All conquered by that lingering presence of your absence.
I had prayed to my Father in Heaven
May be you misjudged that kind heart I presented on the linen cushion of love
However, in these same lines I write
An angelic voice soothes me
I hope you will come back
Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow!
For resolve to love you with a tender touch.
