Peace Uninterrupted
I crave silence, the absence
Of sound all around me.
I long to be free of the noise entirely.

If there is a place on this planet
That could grace me with the
Gift of peace and calm, I would
Pack my bags and run.

Run from the city hustle and bustle,
The smell of smoke and gas
Permeating the air.
Run from tall buildings and skyscrapers
That could make one claustophobic.

The concrete rules over the city,
Trees and flowers are sparce.
Whoever said this is the life for us
Is obviously nuts.

I would gladly trade concrete for the
Earth and grass under my feet.
I'd trade the smell of city
For nature's soothing fragrance.

I'd trade the irritating noise of cars,
Construction workers, loud and often
Fake laughter coming from local bars,
And people generally, with the song of Birds and other friendly animals.

I'd get lost in those places, staring at
The water's surface for hours.
My mind blank, no words exchanged.

I'd smile as I gaze at Mother Nature's
Finest works of art, they'd be so beautiful
I wouldn't be sure which way to look first.

I know this sounds foolish,
Certainly it would to those who are
So into everything urban, but my soul
Longs to get lost in the silence of nature,
To start my very own adventure.
