Last hope of Icarus
You make me feel like Icarus
Soaring between a sea that dares to hold me down as the sun's expectant gaze turns to discontentment
I can no longer linger in limbo
The rock and the hard place
The tightrope walker with uneven footing
No net
No harness
My final decent.
Now I cling to you and pray that you don't leave me behind as Daedalus left me and my mother
He left the kingdom after creating a monster and now I too am left a victim in his wake
Hold me as I fall
from my safe perch
from my pedestal
for you perhaps as well
The ground is no longer stable beneath my feet
Instead I now plummet toward it as your hand begins to slip from mine.
