The Potential of Literature
Literature’s liberty
The stories it’s got
Another world it holds
In which I can dive without a thought.
Whether it’s the moral stories
That inspire me for life –
Or the magical words
Or the man’s mistake with the golden goose and the knife!
The ancient stories
That were written in Latin
Or the Wonderland I can explore
With Alice and her kin.
With Percy Jackson’s many adventures at Campus
Kronos’s army trying to take over Olympus.
Or with Harry Potter
And his adventures at Hogwarts
Fighting a teacher, killing the Basilisk
Breaking in a bank and destroying Horcruxes!
Literature is a world
Full of imagination –
I study it at school and my home
Because I’m in the Hobbits’ nation.
