waiting rooms.
I am lingering
Amidst these pastel walls
Adorned with instructions on how best to live your life
Ironic, really
How these posters of persuasion are brought into this world
Through caffeine and nicotine
Saturated bloodstreams
Toiling in dingy office buildings
So stubborn in abandoning their own habits
Seeking comfort in others abandoning theirs

This life’s lesson is in learning
That everything is a comparison
To something much sweeter always lingering
On the hem of another girl’s skirt
On the edge of that chapter’s next page

We cannot bear the mutiny!
Of uncovering something sweeter was around the corner
To know our mouths could have been closer
to biting the golden coin.

Everything is a comparison, though we are all the same.
