Mother tongue
Babel myth in interesting.
When they start constructing
it was one population, one language
Alas, by completing the tower
multiple languages emerged.
India is divided based on languages.
Many major languages of India
are much older than Hindi and English.
But English is a global language.
UN announced 'mother tongue' day
to preserve endangered languages
that are at the brim of being forgotten.
One nation, one language may seem attractive but that kills biodiversity and multiplicity.
Interestingly, only now USA has realized the importance of multiple languages
and introduced Spanish in the ATMs.
English men never speak another
language and expect everyone to
speak English. Tamil immigrants
all over the world speak all global
languages fluently, including English.
Tamil being a proto indo-european
is certainly one of the oldest languages
of the world. It is also threatened by
Hindi and English. Language is a
byproduct of thought. Telepathy
when being well developed may
solve the issue of human languages.
Technology has certainly eased
the tension. Till then let's be
proud of our mother tongue and
respect other languages.
