you were, i was
you were a smoldering flame in the october night
and my soul was ready there to be set alight.
you were the breeze between my neck and my hair
and your lips attempted to build their home there.
you were a brutal storm weighing on the bright caribbean sea
and i just let the tempestuous waves wash over me.
so i was the ashes left after the blaze
and i was the debris blown every which way
i was the sand which your hands broke against
grains of closure forever mangled and my shoulders stay tensed.
