I stare at the screen on my phone
still no new messages
Check the volume of the ringtone
why do i feel so desperate
Time seems to drag
ten minutes feel like hours
im feeling increasingly sad
my self control is over powered
and i dial your number
one ring, two, and ring three
followed by your voicemail
my stomach falls to my knees
as i finally let myself exhale
well i guess that’s your answer
i guess you just aren’t the one
makeup and hairspray…didn’t matter
after it was all said and done
she sighed, and sat on the bed
feeling very ashamed
and also quite misled
until the phone rang…..
