Fine dining with you
It started with the regular menu, soul food, instantly so familiar, so warm, comforting and easy on the eye!
A kick of spice with my beans and rice, herbs so bountiful, taste buds revive, a stomach left satisfied.
One day, all changed, the menu now a la carte, the ingredients the worlds finest, taste buds galore, mouth exploding from all we could endure
The choices left me breathless, I simply adored, there was no comparision to that old menu before.
I came to expect it, that high class indulgance, the limitless options, a surprise each night, delightful flavours, this is the life!
We dined on it all, from extravagence grew an insatiable appetite, I knew it wasnt right, to get so consumed, fill my belly with starters, a main and a pudding each night
I had to have it all, that first mouthful left me addicted, feeling high as a kite, was this what id been missing? I had to have it all.
Again and again, we revisited, became regulars at the door, on first name terms now, the experience for me unrivalled, like never before.
We indulged once, not twice, but again and again, I was a devotee, most loyal to the end.
I didnt see it coming, I couldnt see the trend, I wiped my mouth with fine cotton, that was the start of the end.
Because the menu we exhausted, the freshness, the kick, the way it used to melt, disappeared, now a distant memory, this wasnt what I felt.
Tried to go less often, to that place I did adore, hoped i'd find the answer to why I couldnt taste its taste no more.
Then it just hit me, like when Tina repaid Ike, it just wasnt possible to turn back the hands of time.
Now I reluctantly accept that nothing lasts forever, should I count myself lucky to have had this fine endevour?
That establishment is closed now, a very sorry sight, a relic from my past, a reminder to us all-that everything comes to pass
So I regained my indepedance, I cook and eat alone at night, occasionally I close my eyes and can taste all that once transpired, a moment in history, a good time in my life.
