You sat with me under the shade of the trees,
Reading out the words that made no sense,
Not once did you lose faith,
Or let me be,
The slow and steady learner,
The butt of all the jokes,
Duffer! Failure! And more...
Ten years later, it all made sense.
I realized how much power I had welded into my hands.
I could easily reach out and grab the stars.
I was extremely proud of myself.
I called out to you to tell you I was not a failure anymore.
But, when I called out, the silence hit me hard;
You were gone,
But I know you are proud of me, too.
