Then there was you

Dark skies and bittersweet truths
basking in our impending youths
like a shooting star far out of reach
it's a lesson only the broken can teach
I wished upon my dear escape
then there was you, ready to reshape
the values I have learned along the way
saying words I cannot dare say
like a planted seed planted in desolate soil
coming with rain, ready to toil
seeking within me, what is unknown
I'm grateful for the love you have shown
with this, my hope took flight
the once barren land, basked in light
my life started to feel anew
and in the dark, then there was you.
