The Wistful Flower
Have you ever seen a flower
That stood out from the rest
It calls your eyes into admiration
Making you feel so blessed
So delicate, you cannot pick it
So intricate, you hold your breath

I met such a flower one time
Not so much time ago
It radiated happiness
And I never let it go

I conversed with it daily
It raised my spirits high
But one day it began to wither
And its happiness, seemed nigh

I asked it what was wrong
It told me it didn't know
But that it had no song
And this made it feel alone

It wanted to be lonely
For that was when it was safe
And it wanted to have a song
Because safety left a raphe
It wanted independence
But it's song was low and sad
How it smiled in my presence
But inside it wasn't glad

It proudly stood in solitude
It proudly laughed with me
It hurt when I was not around
And it hurt, when around me

Many years ago it faded

I tried but could not save

I never stayed, I never strayed
But still it slowly died insane

That flower was never lonely
Every other seems the same,
Refusing to deny
Its simple made up lies
Worthless cries
Unsympathetic sighs

Insanity, its bane
Beauty and fame
And now
It withers wishfully
Wistfully away
In vain
