My Secrets
For a second, my heart fell to my feet.
Not a sound, not a peep.
Everyone looked at me,
Expecting me to confirm or deny.
I could say it wasn’t true, but it was no lie.
So I sat there, hoping that just for a second the world would envelop me, or swallow me whole.
However was no crack in the earth to save me that day,
It just didn’t happen that way.
I didn’t speak, no not a word,
I couldn’t debunk what they had just heard.
So I took my silence and creeped out the door,
When I was alone I sunk to the floor.
What once was a drop of rain,
Turned into an ocean,
Which turned into pain.
My secrets are now on display,
For whoever happened to be in the room that day
Not a sound, not a peep.
Everyone looked at me,
Expecting me to confirm or deny.
