Black Arab
(dedicated to Joe Miller)

Black son of Africa
Seed of many seeds
We have heard about your legendary
Tales and it gives a precise imagery
Of who you are; call it imaginary
But he is the seed that was planted
In the city of the ambitious Arabs.

Black elephant, where do you come from?
Thence from the cradle of life
Lips like fire, tips like roots
The bird is no longer wingless
The snail had become an alligator
He wraps his head like one of them
Oh! Black Son, Oh! Black Arab.

Dark clouds forming uncontrollably
Dreadful whispers running all about
Galloping like scared hyenas
The man of the sky is an eagle
Standing tall as the view of the sky
He was born to cry and fly
The struggles bring the victory home.

Songs of my heart
An uncommon melody
His smiles are precious seeds
Hopeful future, smiling future
Son of Sierra Leone, black man
Turban of peace, turban of peace
Man with a fine character.
