The sights, the sounds and the vibrant energy of the city never fail to thrill us, and invite us to explore life’s many possibilities. In the following poem, I want to explore this energy and atmosphere of London, while also touching on the culture and lifestyle at hand, and how wonderful it has been to step through childhood and my teenage years here.

Descend upon this hallowed city, which brims with life and marvels.
Be greeted by its ephemeral beauty, in this bustling modern sprawl.
Streets and alleys, teeming corner-shops along each well-trodden way.
Trapped within this urban jungle, 'neath the pall of London grey.

This ever-changing place, a legacy of past and present souls.
Stretching far and wide, these city limits cast their many tolls.
Rich with life and vigour, its inhabitants from lands near and far.
Immerse yourself within these scenes, and listen to the urban bazaar.

Growing up in London, time will show you what it's all about.
Discover its depths of history, and its famed cobbled streets are gone with out.
Observe its customs, hear its accents and its vibrant mix of races.
Delight in our unique home culture, where each human face is embraced.

Its sprawling parks, grand buildings, and more attractions than one can count.
Ride the tube, jump aboard the bus, or take a leisurely stroll about.
Seek the vibes from this great city, you can taste them in the air.
Savour its institutions, its deep culture, a delightful adventure to share.

London, has a mesmerising aura, which doubtless won't depart.
As its ever-changing features mould and inspire me in my heart.
A magical cityscape, discover something new each day.
