Today
Today the sun rose, as it often does
Casting its rays across life’s green valley
Our eyes open, reluctantly sipping coffee
We wonder when, why, and hypotheticals
Adjusting our collars, we greet today whistling
Nobody notices our quiet, melancholy song
Nor would it have mattered, our minds chime
Listening to the leaves crunch, we walk evenly
Funny how we’re still surprised by new seasons
Yet they do manage to capture our imaginations
Today the clouds flew, as they often do
Spreading shadows across life’s darkened valley
Our eyes close, softly humming meditatively
We slowly pull our hoods over eager ears
We listen contemplatively, as the leaves levitate
We witness their grace as they dance in circles
Nobody notices our gentle, calm concert
Yet sense a difference in our step
Lighter, we feel our sun’s shine behind us
Today we faced our valley, as we often do
