The Day I Missed My Baby Ultrasound
In the waiting room, the minutes crawl,
A clock ticks slow, its echoes fall.
The world outside is bright and loud,
Yet in my heart, a heavy cloud.
I should have seen your tiny form,
Each flutter and each gentle storm.
But time slipped by, like sand through seams,
And I awoke from hopeful dreams.
The doctor’s voice, a distant hum,
While I was lost, the hours numb.
I missed the glimpse of life anew,
The day I should have seen you.
Yet, though the picture's out of reach,
Our bond is more than sight can teach.
In every beat, in every sigh,
You’re with me, though I missed the sky.
We’ll have our moments, just a bit late,
With stories told and love innate.
For though I missed that precious scene,
Our hearts have known what eyes have not seen.
