Ten below
Within the quiet, I felt your breath
As I walked by it, smoke filled my chest
Your exhale spelled my name
A cocktail of frost and flame

Our eyes met where the air was thin
On icy steps, in your menthol mist
With the cigarette you flicked away,
What went next was the light of day,

When I checked the time it was getting late
Because as moments fly, the heart tends to race
I must have missed the last bus home
But I could still weather the ten below

And then you called, my footprints froze
With me enthralled, I turned my nose.
My blushed red face and my cold blue eyes,
I imagined embrace as I took my try

The closer I came was the furthest I went
From being the same person I've always been
Beside your brow, my lips were near
I said it loud so that you could hear

Beyond the lust, there was a love
Brushed off the dust, there was still enough
An older heart, but still new in life
It became hard to heed old advice

I followed that fire to find your kiss,
And I'd never tire from seeing your lips.
Smudged lipstick and a messy black tie,
Love like this comes once in a lifetime
