The days of slate and chalk,
Are not easy to erase,
they leave impressions,
hard in my case.

They hold memories of my childhood,
written in blood and chalk.
looking back
it was a long walk.

My past is my past
I've learned my lessons
one mistake at a time
All mine, my forever possessions

Angry now,
too much abuse
Tears flow with memories
suppressed from my youth

Push the memories away
living among the masses
looking for my happiness
through only rose colored glasses

these people,
where did I go wrong
I've warned my children
another version of the same song

it's not about me
remember that
my time is over
just like a dead bat

these emotions
continually bind
tears flowing
from time to time

medication for this
pills for that
sleep away the days
I've got no time for that

pulling myself up
another day
depression is real
at least that's what they say
