The waking of the Dragon.
Atop the mountain of the mind
The dragon
In me went to sleep
Slumbering to stupor
And weakness
And destruction
Time sacrifices
Clock in clock out
Won't wake him
He dozed
The dragon in me dozed
And dozed and dozed
And I thought him dead
Dead, unwaking
Unmoving, useless
Dragon with out fire
His fire went out
When he chose to sleep
Eons after eons
While I grow up
Struggling without the breath of fire
Without wings
Without claws
Without tails and scales
All hope extinguished
Dreams seeped out and mix with the wind
Blood went cold
Like an animal in Antarctica or
Siberia, but here in Nigeria
Twenty years has passed
The dragon in me has not awaken
Snoring in his lair
In a cave
On a mountain
Which I called the mind
With no dreams
And no wings to fly
No claws to fight men goblins
And women demons
Of the dungeon called society
Faith is all that remains
In me and outside of me
Fate shook the world
The world yawns
The sun rose and woke the trees of the mind
Gentle breeze moved the trees into a leaf shower
And for once life was breathed together with the wind
Into the slumbering dragon in me
Eyes open
Sun in the sky
The fire begins to burn
And life, what life he felt?
What freedom the mind gets?
And out he came and breathed air
Smelled water and soil and trees and season
He breathed fire in me
The dragon in me awakes
Hot blood course through my veins
My heart set
With the living claws
I set out carving my own dreams
The sky blue and welcoming
With the wings now I can fly.
