Wishing In The Shadows
If only wishes could come true,
I'd take away the pain that's haunting you,
And wrap you in my arms so tight,
To keep you safe all through the night.
But I know that wishes are just dreams,
And things are never quite as they seem,
For though I love you with my heart and soul,
You'll never see me as your lover, whole.
If only wishes could come true,
I'd make you see that I'm the one for you,
The man who'll love you for eternity,
And cherish you for all infinity.
But as I watch you with him, day by day,
I know that I must find a different way,
To live with love that's unrequited,
And keep my heart from being blighted.
