the day you left me
You always had a way with words.
Retelling stories one might think are true.
It would be too cynical to call you problematic.
And quite disruptive to hear both sides.
You alleged birds can fly so that our love soars.
Which would explain the dying crows in the garden.
You claimed my wishes died so that we could dream of new ones.
Which contained toxic ideologies that restricted my mind.
Was it poison from your lips that expelled from the wasted sea?
Or were you too impatient to see the end?
Dwelling upon the time your ego approached me.
Regretting the simpleton phrases once uttered in harm's way.
What is the purpose behind all of these senseless habits of hatred?
My love for you was so deeply ingrained in my essence that I forgot how to be miserable.
So now I’m back on the brim and struggling to breathe again.
