Trauma isn't pretty
How can poets make beauty out of something so tragic?
Spilling their hearts out onto a page
Then making everything sound pretty, isn't it magic?
Their thoughts were trapped inside a cage
Weaving trauma into something painted by Picasso
Turning agony into something so heartwarming and sublime
Yet also giving more reason to romanticize how they feel hollow
I know how it sounds but I swear I'm not accusing them of a crime
Poetry is too beautiful for it's own good
It makes you romanticize trauma
Makes you feel like you need to hide under a hood
But trauma isn't pretty or exotic like a llama
Trauma is like being in a fire full of agony
Trauma is something I wouldn't wish on anybody
Trauma is throwing your body off a balcony
Trauma is blaming yourself and ruining your own harmony
Trauma isn't pretty
Trauma is a wound that will never fully heal
Trauma is a scar that's way too rippy
Trauma is skipping meals
Trauma is apologizing too much
Trauma is easily being startled
Trauma is being scared of being touched
Trauma is wishing one day you'd finally stop being gargled
But of course.. because this is a poem
I'm just making trauma sound pretty, right?
