Twice As Tall

From the sadness of mourning
To the joys of the morning
Turning grasses to graves,
That was how our story began
Looking for bread where there seems to be none
Seeking hovering blessings from mom.
They said we don't belong here
But here is where we were born
Where the cries of pain began shouts of gain
Excruciating pains of hard work in excess
Paid back with exhilarating moments of success.
Like dust we arose from arid grounds,
Gearing forward for what lies ahead
And pushing backwards what tears heard.
With a bold voice of courage
And like a wedding vow, I'll say I Do
To every sunrise in the horizon
I'll stand Twice As Tall
