some stare at past in retrospect,
some look forward, in hope and fear.
and some are caught in between,
amid today's mayhem drear.

at this threshold of time, nigh,
eager, high expectancy prevail.
ideas are born, plans are made,
for the future to soar and sail.

enabled, empowered, to change,
to make better what we could
we all wish to improve on past,
but will we do what we should?

Respect our fellow beings, surely;
Attention to our work and play;
Courtesy in our manners, yes;
Excellence in our efforts, I pray!

let us strive to do better, then,
and run the endless RACE of life
with love, dignity and honor
through happiness and strife.
