Country on fire
I live in a country on fire!
An unchanging country filled with atrocities, corruption, mayhem and constant shouts for revolution and change.
I live in a country on fire!
The people moan in hunger and cry from brutality meted on them by those who are supposed to safeguard the nation and its people.
I live in a country on fire!
Where lots of school-aged children are out of school and children in school are traumatized, abused or even killed.
I live in a country on fire!
A nation filled with abundance yet scarcity is the order of the day for the majority.
I live in a country on fire!
Where religion and ethnicity, are tools used to segregate the masses and leave them unwilling to come together to fight for their freedom to live and grow.
I live in a country on fire!
Where talents are forced to run away in search of greener pastures, so as to survive and provide for themselves.
I live in a country on fire!
My people are more concerned about celebrity gossip, arguments about gender roles that are never-ending, and hopeless daydreams of making quick cash by all means.
I live in a country on fire!
One where our currency is constantly in an ever-losing war and traders and businesses hike prices that never revert even when things get better.
I live in a country on fire!
And we will rather say "God help us" than try helping ourselves.
