i saw you,
and i blinked,

did i dream you up? did i change the time?

i close my eyes.

my cheeks a ruddy red-
the rest of my skin aglow.
covering over me-
you become a halo.
warming me,
and stilling my slightly flinching body.

the room pitches up in its temperature.
and my skin goes damp.
and the sweat on my skin makes the room feel like a swamp-
makes everything swell.
you cast me into a sleeping spell.

there's a couple more blinks.
with you in my vision every hungry low lid split.
it's like a fire's lit.
i feel it thrumming in my stomach's pit.

and i yearn and yearn.
but i never learn.

and it happened quick.
and suddenly you were gone.
i try to bring you back.
because i cannot even see.
i'm your mind to mold.
yours to drop,
and yours to hold.
yours to dangle.
yours to wrangle.
like a spell i blink,

i'm your pawn,
you made me it by dawn.
out of the day and into the night.
you spawn and respawn,
into dark and the light.

like a spell i blink.
and try to commit you to memory.
fusing you with what i am.
the experience is sensory.

my room is moonlit,
so again night has fallen.
and you weren't in my vision anymore,
until suddenly when,
like an apparition in the corner,
you materialize again.
you look at me like you can read me.
and maybe you do.
you whisper "night has fallen,
and you did too."

so like a spell i blink.

it's scary how with you,
i don't realize i can't think.

it's a mindless thing.
you make all my actions a mindless swing.
out into the open,
on a reckless dare.
you frightened me into loving you,
and i didn't care.
