Where Whales Wander Wherever
I do not think you will find me
Such a shallow creature;
As every fleeting idea I float
Across the sky of my thoughts.
Ideally there is depth to such beauty,
As I drown in it, a sunk fleet
Within the same expanse
To make believe magic-
Were it real, surely soaring
Would be a more complex institution
From which to realize
–upon one's dreams. Grab at their
Twines and unravel forth the flood.
It is the rope of imagination that
Grounds me in the ocean
Of what is anchored in life.
And so I let go of my own balloon
From time to time. If it's hot air
I think whales would understand
Why humans wish to fly with them.
