The Home I Never Had
Restaurants all around me,
Cars on the road everywhere,
People walking all around town,
I was zoned out the whole time though so I didn’t notice.

I was in the restaurant one second waiting for my mother to come back,
The next I was in a winter forest,
With trees surrounding me,
Wolves howling and circling around me.

Ever since then whenever I zone out I go to that same place,
Back to the wolves who raised me and taught me new things,
They fight all the time but get along at the same time too,
They even think of me as their own baby even though I’m not.

They like to believe though that one day I will ask to be turned,
Then I can become one of them but I’d have to give up on my other life,
They’re the best people I’ve ever met though,
I would die if it meant I could save them.

So I decided to become a wolf,
Become one of them and stay for breakfast, lunch and dinner,
The meat they all hunt for is very delicious,
Finally I’ll be able to hunt with them.

On the night of the ceremony,
I zoned out only to find my friends all dead,
Nothing to show how they were killed,
They’re definitely dead though.

When I stopped zoning out though I saw my mother was zoned out too for ages,
I tried to get her focus back but ut wasn’t working,
I went and called an ambulance but the doctors said she died in her own world,
I soon realised my own mother was one of the wolves and she recognised it was me the whole time.

The home I wanted to live in so bad,
Was here with my mother this whole time,
All the words I said about having another family,
I have learned to soon regret.
