MOONSTONES IN THE DARK
I implored upon my palms;
decades in correspondence
headlights torching treelines;
swirling curves we rose,
unravelling—
folds of the sky in essence.
All my dreams lost in plain sight;
expanding pupils—
shaking quill-tips,
the ink may never dry
the ganges of the endless
idled;
akin to a goddess,
right before my mortal eyes.
“Where do we go?”
the question barely uttered;
we swirled among the summer fireflies
the accelarator rang;
climbing—
slithering over those bends;
up and over.
Cicadas toned verdicts
the sea of stars,
exploding afar.
“And here it comes!”
she held my shirt
goosehairs bumping on my senses;
as they rained past our heads
far off to eternity
“A meteor shower!”
my screaming whisper—
to her dreamy eyes.
“And what shall be found in aftermath?”
I barely squeak;
“Moonstones in the dark baby, moonstones in the dark”
she whispers back.
