The Raven
when your heart grows nostalgic,
of all the people and places that almost
felt like home, when your troubled eyes
wonder through pictures of yesterday,
that even your face looks strange enough,
that you've grown so hateful,
of the wrinkles on your once youthful skin.

when you seek for a missing piece,
a possible explanation for all the voids
in your life, and you find her on a picture
when you were young and full of gaiety
when you could've asked her out.

now the world has grown so meaningless
they said, "home is where your heart is"
but yours is not on the luxury home
you've built with your toils,
it exists in the distant past,
between all the choices you rushed
pushing everyone away,
now you long to travel through time,
just to change a part of you.

and how you long to be a Raven
from the future to tell the youth
of the importance of love and joy,
to warn them of the melancholy
and loneliness that comes with aging.

now these poetic verses you write,
are solely words of warning,
that time waits for no man.
