Tell The Cat
I feel him watching me,
Yellow eyes follow my steps.

He blinks his approval.

I know he smiles as I tell him
Everything that's going on in my human life.

Then another man walked through my door, startled, he slipped away to observe this new human.

Hiding in the shadows, he melts into the black carpet to watch this unknown presence. This human scent is quite unusual.

I know he is judging him silently. I trust him to give me signs. A swat with a paw or a hiss perhaps. However, he is quietly observent.

This human is unaware of the feline's gaze. Talking of his daily adventures, my sentinel tastes the air in confusion.

Whiskers twitched and a little sneeze escaped, it caused me to chuckle as I poured some white, sparkling wine.

We step outside to sip on the wine
my shadow slips into the darkness of night.

Eyes glitter among flickering flames. This human is intent on staying he seems okay.

I tell him the cat is watching. He peers into the darkness to see.

The little black panther leaped onto his
lap, testing him as he does. The big human man stroked his head and his chin. Satisfaction was evident.

Fangs were shining and the smile was there.
The little panther was happy as could be.

The three of us went back inside and this man pulled me close and softly spoke

"What if I said I wanted to see you more? Maybe go on a weekend road trip?"

I grinned and whispered in his ear, "Babe, don't tell me. Tell the cat."
