Growing pains
nobody really told me
that peace comes from within.
I had searched for a sense of self,
anywhere but in my own body.
Turns out moments should be lived,
turns out I should be on my own.
Turns out life moves too fast
and it keeps leaving me behind.

just the way I am.
that bird chirp excites me,
I didn't know that before.
sunset calms me down
but I didn't really know.
Turns out I should have known myself
before I let in others;
that my needs should be met,
before I give to others.
