A Requiem For A Dead Dream
Trapped in the wreckage of a drowned memory,
A siren sings a requiem for a dead dream.
Of a lost bond beyond her cage to set her free,
A forgotten song echoing like one's last scream.
She's been given a mask to hide her pain,
To cover her tear traces that fade away.
She only needs to wholeheartedly entertain,
Even if her heart's broken or hope's gone astray.
She sings of an old tale that once was told,
A feeling that lingers in the corners of the heart.
A fleeting precious moment impossible to hold,
A looming shadow which refuses to depart.
Time moves on but the absence is present,
Like a ghost haunting each and every thought.
Making already pale wishes more evanescent,
Less and less found however more they are sought.
She keeps broken promises in her mind,
Holding on to faint whispers through the waves.
Stitching lovers' words in hopes of hers to find,
But reading the lies in lovers' eyes she caves.
