A Traditional Meal
She sits at the kitchen table,
with a pencil and her tablet
She didn't want to go overboard
Even though she's made it a yearly habit.
She wrote down the list of items she'll need
To prepare dinner that tastes just right
She and her daughter are off to the store
To make a traditional meal for that night

When the turkey goes in the oven
At a temperature of 450 degrees
The daughter peels dry skins off potatoes
And cut up the carrots, string beans, and peas
The father boil some water trying to help but feeling lost
So the mother sends him into another room
Before grabbing the can opener for the cranberry sauce
The daughter takes out the chocolate cake from the fridge
With homemade icing designs like a treat that looks neat
While the father sets out the cups, plates and silverware
The traditional meal is almost complete

The smell of the turkeys broth sense of the house
Looking golden brown and finished on time
The mother cracked open the beverages
Of sparkling apple cider and adult White Grape Wine
The family gatherers around the square table
Mesmerised by their hard efforts and perfect place
They sat down and embraced each other's hands
Then bowed their heads in unison so they could say grace.
