A Heart of Daffodils and Daisies
She's a heart made out of flowers,
To flourish,
Lush with lively life,
To bloom,
So full of joy in June

So beautiful and quaint,
Seeming as if almost of paint,
Beneath the sun,
Beneath the moon

A petal for a beat,
A leaf for every week

As passerby stop step, in awe,
At such strange a sight to see this day

For among the daffodils and daisies,
Sits a girl of barely six

Watching as her young heart blooms,
As flowers grow anew

But in her hand, a cage of sticks,
Of ivy, oak, and thyme,
Twisted through with silver briars,
Gilded thorns, and berries bronze

The child hums a cheerful tune,
And to it, beats her heart in tune,
As her flowers sway and swoon

And thorns,
They weave,
As though a loom

If I'd known the way that flowers fall,
Or how they bloom beneath the moon

I'd have made this young girl's heart a loom,
To weave her heart strings true from gold,
Not to do as she was told

So child, do not cage your heart,
Let it bloom in winter Dear

Let it bloom,
Without your fear

Let flowers bloom within your heart,
And may their seeds be most sincere
