With What it Was
It was vast, almost like space
But I've never been to space
Nor have I seen it in its glory
It was a large body of water
And it was clear
It was transparent
But I couldn't see the bottom
And when I jumped in
I feared for my life
More in that moment
Than ever before
Not because I could not swim
But because I could
In my mind lay the truth
If I started swimming
I'd never make it make
The water was clear, yes
But it went so far down
And so deep underneath
The water distorted everything
Transparent vessels of life
The current pushed and pulled
The water overpowered everything within
The animals, the sea life, everything
Nothing survived its grasp
And if you somehow managed to
You'd do anything to kill yourself
To escape the pain of survival
A million thoughts shot into my mind
And in the moment I saw the truth
We are feeble and small
And...
But I've never been to space
