THE LIGHT
Captured and kept against their will,
Regarded as slaves, starved, raped, and molested,
Beaten, mocked, scorned, and laughed at,
Whether their families were still alive they never knew,
For they were taken from them,
Some with wives and kids,
For only the men were taken,
Every single day the pain they went through worsen,
Their only cry was when it will ever end.
Some considered taking their own lives,
Being chained, without any freedom,
Almost naked and dirty all round,
No power to decide anything of their own,
For they were dragged along like animals,
Bodies covered with scars,
Even their foots were not spared,
Covered with sores all around their bodies,
Even after death they weren't given a burial.
Thrown away like spoilt food,
Serving as food to the vultures,
Used as gambling cards to the rich,
Their lives played as a game,
Just a round of a game determines a person being alive or dead,
Every day was another story of agony,
Yes they wept and wailed not just at night,
For during the day you could not only hear but saw their torment vividly,
When will it ever end they whispered in their hearts.
Shattered and broken dreams,
Heart felt inspirations shackled with chains,
Hopeless, voiceless, weak,
Yet he heard them,
Out of this dark cloud came a shining sun,
It brightened their horizon and brought light to them,
After so many years for once they felt a tender warm touch,
A heart full of love and compassion,
From the wilderness he came.
They knew him not,
He knew them not,
Love brought him to them,
Without ammunition or violence yet he saved them,
Conquered their fears and gave them hope to live again,
Became their voice, their strength,
Just a glimpse at him they cried from their hearts,
Yes if you wanted a HERO he was more than that,
He didn't only win them their freedom but won their hearts.
For once he was above them yet he became one of them,
Understood their feelings and shared with them,
Ate and drank from their table,
He felt nothing but compassion and desire to set them free,
Through him their hardened and dark sorrowful hearts learnt to share love,
He died but his love inspired them to be kind,
To love and protect everyone,
They never knew him but he became the epitome of greatness, love, hope and all they needed.
They thought they needed a HERO, yet they got MORE THAN A HERO.
HE BECAME THE LIGHT IN THEIR HEARTS.
