what keeps me up now
is the sound of the winds howl
against the ever endless distance
I've put between us

of all the things I muster
all my mind will wander
are the many different moments
I'd wish to pause time to be with you two.

I'll just be gone for awhile
a few jobs ago it seems
this wandering life I lead
rips me from my dreams.

I often hear you both laughing
with ease I shed a tear
because I know the sound in my mind
isn't one I often hear

daddy is always on the move
hoping to get back to you
hoping you'll love me just half as long
as I'll never stop loving you

I see these hands so empty
but honestly, I've touched the world
for they've held heavens most precious gift
my beautiful baby girls.

I'm thankful for these notes
these words out loud would break me
for they are thoughts I coexist with
and fend off on the daily.
