In A Lifetime
Lock her in a box with her buzzing bees.
She'll watch the scavenging and ravenging raccoons.
They wear masks that she must make to master
It's all fun and games until help is needed.
She makes friends with the cougars,
Her only friends purr softly in her lap.
The laughing owl has vanished,
And sure, the humming birds are pretty but they
can't bring back what is gone.
She mourns the beauty of everything that was,
She mourns everything that is
She knows that within human kinds lifetime
That they'll destroy everything that is inside.
But she can't do anything but abide.
