what is it you'd say?
That thought crosses through my mind,
every single day.
From the boy who was so broken,
finally grew a man.
I proud father, son and brother,
from the addict noone could stand.
I know that God is real,
I'm just not sure who he is.
But he filled the whole, in this wretched soul,
and gave me a chance to live.
Every day I set out to make you proud,
and pray when you look down you see.
That although I'm far from perfect,
today finally I'm free.
Those chains that used to hold us hostage,
I've torn them from my wrists.
That concrete that entombed me,
I've broken that to bits.
If I you could only see me now,
I know exactly what you'd say.
That you are always watching over me,
