“SOLDIERS IN THE THICKET”
I have waited
years, days
moments
living breath to breath
I have waited
for what you will say
I have waited
like a holy man
who has never seen his God
yet still waits
I have waited
in the darkness
of obscurity
with rabid curiosity
like a lonely soldier
fighting a war
without knowing
his own side
love is a battlefield
my mind is an endless jungle
all my moments passed
just slain soldiers in the thicket
alas, misery has waited with me
but, still I wait
