My Friendly Enemy
We are enemies I had believed,
Just a thought of you disgusts me;
I declared total hatred for you;
But then we were officially best of friends
A friendly enemy indeed.
My heart drew closer to you daily,
Building castles and towers for your abode,
But my lips declare farther distance from you;
Recruiting my likes for your dislike.
From the good book I learnt of your fury for my fortune,
Your crouching crawl on my green,
From reality, I crave for your mist and vapour,
While my feet drew nigh sheol.
You smoothened my pain with your thorny palms;
Feeding my comfort for the day of slaughter,
Overflowing my barn for morts and worms;
Indeed, you are my friendly enemy.
No more misconception of friendship.
The book has become a Rhema;
You are my best enemy for life;
Never! Never is the company of leopard and lizard;
