If I could write myself into a job or the future I would,
twist the metaphors to bring me all the money for this month’s rent.
or write my boyfriend into making me a priority,
but there is no poem that makes adulthood less chaotic.
in this poem though,
I'm a little rich in optimistism and my name is Hope so that means everything gets better.
in this poem I'm whatever I choose to be,
an icon or a billionaire
a little girl with no trauma scars and a woman who has life figured out.
if poetry truly saves
I hope the God of poets is wide awake
hearing the prayers in every line
I hope the God of poets feeds me with the calm that comes after writing as they say,
may this be a source of relief until life gets better.
