The Bards Tale

There once was a bard
Who came across a maiden near a shrine,
Whose presence
He thought was surely divine.

She was beautiful
As well as she was sweet,
And upon holy grounds
They did meet.

Lips as red as a rose
And hair as dark as the night,
Though within her eyes
The stars did reside.

Awestruck and Overwhelmed
By the maidens beauty,
He composed a song
With a melancholic melody.

To him her beauty was unparalleled
In the whole world,
For he suddenly realized
He had fallen for this girl.

They both attended a banquet
Full of merriment and bliss,
Where his love for her
He did confess.

She accepted his love
And sealed it with a kiss,
Though he would soon learn
That their time together He would surely miss.

For the bard had been summoned
To a land far across the seas,
His heart grieved
For he did not wish to leave.

Months later
The dreadful day drew near,
For the thought of leaving her
He could not help but let out a tear.

As the day grew closer
They decided to spend their final days together,
The bard was heartbroken
For he would soon be in a land without her.

With a loving kiss
Their love was made,
And with a saddened kiss
It would then break.

Gone was the bard faraway
With memories of the love that once was,
To answer the summons in that distant land
With a heart full of scars.
