The Girl In The Mirror
I couldn't do anything about it,
The person in the mirror was me!
She was ugly and filthy!
Drool sipping from her mouth at every word,
she stared at me and smiled,
hoping to gain her charm in the process
But she wasn't fooling me,
she wasn't fooling anyone!
She was filthy and no one would want her.
She'd be seen but all who saw would wash their eyes.
She's arrogant,
but in her arrogance, she hopes that people will fall in love with her.
She's just a flower,
dying to be watered.
She's like a flu,
She's contagious ,
and death is her specialty
she kills beauty, she spreads lies.
She wants to change
but how often is one person allowed to try?
She wants to give up,
but that's not how she was raised.
She's a fighter,
and quitting was never her stride.
And so, I like the girl in the mirror.
She wakes up and shows up.
Though crooked, she still smiles.
Though alone, she's convinced that she has her God.
Who counteracts her every destructive thought.
Who tells her that she is worthy and worth it.
And that when all has been said and done,
He'll hold her with His righteous right Hand
and He'll walk with her.
In this, and only this,
does she believe.
In this and only this, DO I BELIEVE.
