was I not enough
perhaps too much
to teach me how to be tough
by never having a parental crutch

looking back it seems so different
not what I thought before I knew better
i was only a child still so ignorant
feelings of being unwanted begin to fester

having a child of my own has truly taught me
being the sole source of protection, love, and trust
nurturing and caring is all she should see
so she never has to look back at me with disgust
